PCT Trail Journal: Day 37 Messenger Flats Campground To Mile 415.1
Day 37 on the PCT from Messenger Flats Campground to Mile 415.1 was such a nice day!
It started with not the best sleep because my campsite was sloped. But I saw so many old hiking friends! Sanja was camped at the same campsite and said hi in the morning. It was great to see her.
My old hiking friends just kept coming! It’s so fun to see folks that I hiked with in the beginning 💛:
– Purple guy
– Brandon
– Saundra
– Vista
– 2 girls that flipped up
At the water source, we heard that you can order pizza to be delivered to the fire station. Of course, we did that. It was the most expensive pizza ever but worth it!
The pizza arrived right when I arrived. Perfect timing. It was huge and filling. Then it was chill and charge time at the fire station. I plugged in all my devices and took a nap in the nice shaded area.
Majka felt better today and also took a huge nap. We started packing up and getting water around 3:30. I packed up 4 pieces of pizza and hit the trail. It was 1200 ft over 3.7 miles to the best campsite. It’s on the edge of the mountain with 270-degree views. There are layers and layers of mountains. My favorite!
Another hiker said he saw a bear 2 miles away. In the photos, it looked like a big brown bear. I didn’t tell Majka because she is super scared of bears. Is that mean 🙂?
My mood has been better these last couple days. I’ve felt really positive about hiking. Could it be because we are in the mountains and it’s really fun to climb up and down mountains?
We haven’t been doing super hard days. Maybe that’s making it more enjoyable? Or because I’ve been seeing familiar faces?
Whatever it is these last few days have been great. I’m excited to be here.
