The Best Part?

The best part was that it was a good day

What did I learn?

Taking it easy is good for me.

PCT Trail Journal: Mile 68.4 to Stagecoach RV Resort (mile 68.4 to 76.3)

Town day means wake early and hike day. Your girl was up at 5:45 getting ready to head into Julian. All signs were suggesting I needed to get to town: my feet and I ran out of fuel.

I hit the trail at 6:45 am and started hauling butt from mile 68.4 to Stagecoach RV Resort. My feet felt pretty good until around 4 miles and then it wasn’t even that bad (compared to yesterday). I stopped one time to air them out. They were pretty moist.

The trail slowly descended into desert. This was what I would call real desert. The last 2 miles were flat desert.

I sat at the road waiting for Rob to hitch to Stagecoach. So many folks passed by. There is a happy positive vibe on town days. Everyone is ready to get real food and chill out.

My first hitch was a success. The 3rd car stopped and she was also going to Stagecoach. It was perfect.

It was really windy so Rob and I decide to get a sheep shed. I took a hot shower and Kari and Alan arrived. They hooked it up:

– A whole blister repair kit

– So much food

– Salad!

It was amazing and so nice. We hung out and ate. Then went to town for pizza and beer.

We hit up Mom’s for free pie and hitched back into Stagecoach. You meet interesting people when hitching 🙂.

I figured out a way to describe the PCT. It’s a commune. We are all working towards a shared goal and share possessions. It’s like we are all looking out for each other.

After today, I realized everything is going to be good on the PCT. Even if it doesn’t work the way you imagined.

Check out day 4 on the PCT.

⛺How Was My Gear?

Everything went well today gear-wise. Everything functioned like I wanted it to.

💪How did my Body Feel?

My feet were hurting (of course) but they were better than yesterday. I am glad I only did 8 miles.

My queen Kari!

🍴How was my food situation?

I ran out of gas this morning. I only have 1 cous cous and one oatmeal left for breakfast. I have to resupply for several days:
– 4 days worth of food
– lunches for 7-8 days

Free pie!

🤔What did I learn and how will I action it?

Rest days are good for me. They make me feel better.
