PCT Trail Journal: Day 31 Mile 471.4 to Serenity Oasis
Day 31 on the PCT from mile 471.4 to Serenity Oasis was a great day because it ended with showers and margaritas.
I was ready to power up the climbs at 7:26. They weren’t terrible ups and it was nice to get them done in the morning. We stopped at a great water source with huge trees and shade. It’s amazing how motivated you feel knowing you will get town food and a shower.
Our spirits were high. We told everyone we were going to Margarita town 🤣.
After lunch, it was super hard to leave. There was a small up and then a huge down. It was completely exposed and really hot. There was really tall grass all along the trail that kept hitting me in the face.
I really liked the tall grass. It created good vibes as we descended down toward Agua Dulce.
We wanted to get to the road and take an Uber or get a hitch. By the end, Dan was suffering big time. He got a blister and butt chaff in one day. That’s worrying. I don’t want that to happen to me!
We tried getting an Uber but no luck. It’s so hit or miss getting Ubers in these trail towns. We started walking and got a hitch for the last 1.5 miles. It was hot and great to arrive. We didn’t want to get out of the truck because the AC was so nice.
We Made it to Margarita Town!
We stayed at Serenity Oasis. A nice trail angel let’s PCT hikers stay on his property. There is a shower, toilet and washing machine. We got our clothes and bodies washed. It was amazing!
Then we hit margarita town. We had so much food, margaritas and fun. It was so good. I totally understand the saying going to town now. Before it was just a thing I said but now I get it.
We quietly came back to Serenity and crawled into our tents. There was a party somewhere close by and the loud music lulled us sleep.

🌟How Was Today? Did I enjoy it?
Today was a pretty good day. The up didn’t feel too hard. It’s the PCT gradual up. There was a great shady lunch spot with a water source. The rest of the day was down but super exposed and hot. Then town day with yummy margaritas.
⛺How Was My Gear?
I’m sad about having to throw away my pants. I found some leggings in the hiker box though.
💪How did my Body Feel?
My feet were screaming at me for the 7 miles down. It was dull achey pain. It wasn’t fun.
🍴How was my food situation?
Double lunch and so much Mexican food. Fajitas, carnitas, and margaritas.
🤔What did I learn and how will I action it?
I need a better filter back flushing routine. My filter is pretty slow. I should flush it at every town stop.
